Peculiarities of Seasonal Dynamics of Mytilus Galloprovincialis Larvae Numbers in the Coastal Zone of the Crimea (based on long-term data)

July 2, 2014

Analysis of long-term dynamics of Mytilus galloprovincialis larvae numbers in the surface layer of the coastal waters of the Crimea, the study of which lasts since the mid-twenties century is given in the paper. It has been found that in spring the average concentration of M. galloprovincialisnumbers is higher than that registered in autumn. For the most part in spring the highest numbers of larvae are observed in April. The reasons of this phenomenon are as follows: spring spawn of the animals and the influx of pediveligers of the autumn and winter generations from the deep layers of the sea into the surface.
